A michelin starred restaurant in Leicestershire. Yes, you heard me right – a michelin starred restaurant in Leicestershire. It may sound like I’ve been drinking too much mulled wine but I’m being completely serious. You don’t have to venture to London or other far flung reaches to get a great meal, you can head to Mountsorrel and hidden away next to a seemingly ordinary farm-shop is the unassuming John’s House.

The story goes a little something like this, John Duffin left the family home for the big smoke to learn all there is to know about professional cooking. He learnt his trade in some of the country’s top Michelin restaurants slogging away in the big city ready for his next challenge. This challenge came in the shape of heading back to his home and setting up a new and exciting fine dining experience in Leicestershire.

screen-shot-2016-12-18-at-15-12-38The place serves up what’s fresh, what’s in season and what’s local and each day the menu is different offering new taste experiences all along the way. Go check out the website if you’re interested in knowing more but the set menu is reasonably priced and you’ll be sure to leave feeling like you’ve been on an episode of MasterChef the Professionals. It’s a great experience.
